Welcome to the Seeberger Lab! Our Lab's research is concerned with questions on the interface of chemistry and biology. Oligosaccharides in the form of glycoproteins and glycolipids carry detailed structural information which serves to mediate a variety of biological events including inflammation, immune response, and metastasis. Still, due to the laborious nature of the synthetic routes to these important biooligomers, relatively little is known about their structure and function. By gaining rapid synthetic access to natural oligosaccharide containing molecules and novel analogs, we intend to study their structure and function in detail. Therefore, we apply techniques spanning from synthetic organic chemistry to structural analysis and biochemistry.
